(Swaffaath) 37 : 5
رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ

The Lord of Heavens, earth and all in between them, and the Lord of the different points of sunrise.

Since the rising of the sun varies throughout the year, the term “sunrise” is used in the plural form. In verse 70: 40, it is mentioned that Allah is the Lord of all points of sunrise and sunset. This indicates that, just as the points of sunrise vary throughout the year, so do the points of sunset. Verse 55: 17 mentions the Lord of two points of sunrise and two points of sunset. In verse 43: 38, it is warned that the disbeliever who does not convert his Jinn soulmate into a believer with Adhikr, at the time of his death, will wail, “If only there were the distance of two sunrises between me and my soulmate.”

For those in each hemisphere, the sun rises and sets twice daily. This means that in each hemisphere, the sun rises once and sets once each day. See explanation 4: 131-133; 32: 4.
